After Gao Xiaoshan's sacrifice, Wei Dahe fought with the Kuomintang diehards in order to protect the guerrilla column, and at the same time led the Shaanxi army to fight bravely in the Zhongtiao Mountain area. He skillfully used guerrilla tactics to deal with the Japanese army, forcing Kimura Hisazo to be unable to send troops, and completely crushing the Japanese army's strategic attempt to advance westward. In the end, he led the remnants of the army to contain the main force of the Japanese army in Guiren's Pass, and would rather die than surrender, fighting to the end, and composing a magnificent heroic hymn with his life.
