Years ago, when Ray Drecher (Thomas Jane) was in high school, he was a promising and endearing athlete. Today, others are middle-aged and still have nothing to do. He worked as a high school teacher and basketball coach at a school for little pay, low status, and no insurance. What chilled him the most was that his wife (played by Anne Heche), who had lived together for 20 years, actually left him and married her dermatologist with a habit of cleanliness.　　　　The house that Ray inherited from his parents fell into disrepair and was destroyed in a fire, forcing his twin children to move in with his mother. Lonely, with nothing and bad luck, Ray is at a low mood and has to join a local "self-help class" to relieve his boredom. The purpose of this class is to identify the potential in each individual and the "strengths" that will enable them to succeed in their careers. There, Ray meets Tanya (Jane Adams) - an ordinary woman who should have been a poet but missed out on success because of the tricks of fate. Ray suddenly had a sense of "what do you want in life".　　　　With Tanya's help, Ray is determined to use the best in her life to change her life with her own hands.
