"Engrave Joy in the Voice of January" is an original project that began production as an independent film based on "a certain incident" that Mishima has been facing for 47 years. Set in Nakajima Island in Lake Toya in Hokkaido, Hachijojima Island in the Izu Islands in Tokyo, and Dojima Island in Osaka, the film depicts the inner conflict surrounding Reiko, who appears as an important figure in the story. Based on the themes of "those who go by boat," "those who wait for the ship," "those who come by boat," and "the ark," three stories are intertwined under the three people who are each traumatized. When the stories of different "islands" intersect on a common denominator, a surprising fact is revealed.
